State / Territory Sponsored Investor (Residence) (Subclass 893)
This visa is designed for investors/business people who:
- have an overall successful record of business or investment activities
- have significant net assets
- are willing to invest funds in a designated investment in Australia for four years
- have a genuine commitment to maintain business and investment activity in Australia.
- hold an Investor (provisional) visa
- are sponsored by a state/territory authority.
Investors from overseas who are willing to make a designated investment in Australia, and their family.
With this visa you can:
- work
- travel in and out of Australia any number of times as long as the visa is valid
- study in Australia
- have your family accompany you to Australia. They will have access to work and study rights
- become a permanent resident of Australia.
- live in Australia as a permanent resident for five years (after 5 years, you will need to apply for a resident return visa)
This visa allows you and your family to live in Australia as permanent residents.
The following people may be included in your application:
- your spouse
- your or your spouse’s dependent children
- other dependent relatives living with you
This visa is a permanent residence visa. This visa allows you to travel to and enter Australia for five years from the date the visa is granted. If you wish to continue to travel to and from Australia as a permanent resident after the initial visa has expired, you must obtain a Resident Return Visa (RRV).
With this visa you are unable to access social security payments.
The Australian Government provides help with medical expenses and hospital care through a scheme called Medicare. As a permanent resident in Australia you may be eligible to enroll in Medicare. You should wait 10 days after you arrive, and then go to a Medicare office with your passport or travel documents.
Private Health Insurance is available to you, but it is not a requirement for the grant of this visa.
With this visa you are unable to access family assistance.
Eligibility
Main Applicant Eligibility
To be eligible for this visa you must have met the obligations of the Investor (Provisional) visa, as well as meeting the following requirements. You must provide evidence of each of the requirements with your application.
Provisional visa holder
You are the holder of a State/Territory Sponsored Investor (Provisional) visa as the main applicant and have been in Australia for at least 2 of the 4 years immediately before you apply.
Sponsor
You have been sponsored by an appropriate regional authority of a state or territory government.
Acceptable business record
You or your spouse (if any) has never been involved in unacceptable business or investment activities.
Commitment to business in Australia
You have a commitment to continue to maintain a business or investment activity in Australia.
Designated investment
At time of decision, the designated investment held in your name (or you and your spouse together) has been held continuously for at least 4 years.
Health
You must meet certain health requirements and may need to undergo a health examination.
Character
You must be of good character for you to enter Australia.
Australian Values Statement
If you are aged 18 years or over, you are required to sign an Australian values statement. The statement is included in your visa application form and all applicants aged 18 years and over will need to sign it to confirm that they will respect the Australian way of life and obey Australian laws. Before signing this statement you are required to have read, or had explained to you, material made available by the government on life in Australia which is contained in the Life in Australia book.

Family Member Eligibility
Below are the requirements family members of the business owner must meet to be eligible to accompany the business owner to Australia on this visa.
You can include the following people in your application for this visa.
- your spouse
- your or your spouse’s dependent children
- other dependent relatives living with you.
Adding family to your application
If your child is born after you lodge your application (but before a decision has been made) the child can be added to your application, once you notify the department of the details of the newborn child.
You can also request in writing for a dependent child to be added to your application.
Your spouse can apply separately as long as your visa has not yet been granted.
Health requirement
All family must meet certain health requirements and may need to undergo a health examination.
Character requirement
All family members must be of good character for you to enter Australia.
Australian Values Statement
All visa applicants aged 18 years or over, are required to sign an Australian values statement. The statement is included in the visa application form and all applicants aged 18 years and over will need to sign it. Before signing the statement, applicants for this visa are required to have read, or had explained to them, material made available by the government on life in Australia which is contained in the Life in Australia book.

Obligations
