Australian Visitor ETA Visa (subclass 976)
This visa subclass is applied to visitors/travellers who enter Australia for holidays, tourisms, recreation, informal studies, training or visiting friends or families.
Processing of this visa may be online, through a travel agent, or at the Australian visa office 2 weeks before the proposed travel date. This visa is usually granted to applicants within 24 hours. However, if the visa application is denied, visitor applicants must visit the nearest departmental office to discuss other visa options.
Tourist Visa (subclass 676)
This applies to visitors who want to visit their families or relatives or just visiting for the holiday or recreation and study for up to 3 months. There are requirements in applying for this visa depending on these conditions:
- If the visitors hold a passport from a non-eligible ETA country, they must fill-up Form 48R.
- Form 48 must be filled-up by the visitors holding an eligible ETA passport.
- To further extend the stay in Australia, visitors must fill-up Form 601.
- Form 1229 is consent for young visitors below 18 years old.
- Form 1257 applies to declare a person who will be responsible for the child under 18 years old who will be staying in Australia.
Application for this visa can be done online, by mail, or in person. Only visitors from an eligible country or region recognized by Australia can apply online. Processing time in applying for this visa takes 2-10 working days by mail or 5-10 days if the visitor applies in person. Once a visa is granted, visitors who applied online will be sent notification letter of grant via letter or e-mail and the visa and passport details will be electronically recorded through the ETA. For visitors who applied via mail or in person, a visa label will be placed on the passport containing the visa conditions. If the visa is denied, the department will send a notification letter or e-mail of refusal to the visitor applicant and he/she must make a request for review of the decision at the Migration Review Tribunal.
Family Sponsored-Visitor Short Stay Visa (subclass 679)
This visa is granted to visitors who want to visit his/her family in Australia that sponsored them. To avail of this visa, visitors must have a sponsored family member living in Australia or a permanent resident aged 18 years old and above. Requirements for this application include filling up forms 1149 and 48S. These must be completed by the visitor and the sponsor that will lodge on the visitor’s behalf. The sponsor will be the one responsible to lodge the sponsorship form, visa application, and pay the non-refundable visa charge and be the one to arrange a security bond with the visitor applicant if requested; Sponsor also acts as the contact person during the application process.
Processing of this visa takes up to six weeks depending on certain circumstances. Once this visa is granted, the letter of the visa decision will be given by the department to the sponsor whom they will forward a copy to the visitor applicant. If denied, the department will send a notification letter or email containing the reason for refusal. The visitor applicant must request a review of the decision at the Migration Review Tribunal.
Business ETA Visa (subclass 977)
This applies to visitors who want to visit Australia on business matters. This visa also applies attending business meetings, seminars/conventions, conferences and other informal studies or training. The visitor applicant must apply this visa 2 weeks before the proposed travel date through online, a travel agent or at the Australian visa office.
Like subclass 976, this visa grants to applicants within 24 hours. Otherwise, visitor applicants must visit the nearest departmental office to discuss other visa options.
Business Short Stay Visa (subclass 456)
This visa allows business visitors to make a short business visit; negotiation or exploratory and will only be allowed to engage in limited work. This visa will be granted if the visitor applicant must provide evidence the purpose of his/her visit and the business background must be relevant to the business activities in Australia.
Visitor applicants must lodge and sign the visa application form and other supporting documents to be submitted by post or in person at the departmental office. Processing of this visa takes about 1 month but depends on certain circumstances. Once granted, the department well send the visitor applicant a grant letter that has all the necessary details needed. Otherwise, the department will send a notification letter with the reasons for refusal. The visitor applicant must request a review of the decision at the Migration Review Tribunal.
